I decided to leave a few months around the world. Wander. From city to city, from country to country, from continent to continent. I have not really planned return date nor my itinerary.Walking alone, backpacking is to surrender completely to the dangers and men. There is no possibility of leakage and cycling, or shelter as with a car.Bernard Ollivier
So I had to review the contents of my old backpack to be ready for any situation, the unexpected that I love.
MATERIALS FOR A JOURNEY OF SEVERAL MONTHS
Personally I like to travel with a light backpack and as compact as possible. So each garment or material is important: I minimize my equipment to maximize its usefulness. The goal is to have a light bag while being prepared for any situation.
There are many opinions and options, but the most important thing is to find what works best for you and your trip.
GOOD BAG BACKPACK
I always traveled with a backpack of 40 to 45 liters, I think this is the perfect size, it's sure not to take excess. But since the inception of this blog I travel with hardware rather cumbersome, plus I expect to travel for an indefinite period, so I had to invest in a new backpack.
Material for a travel bag DOSCE I wanted above all it was a nice bag back to carry, lightweight, waterproof and especially with the vents on the back.
After much research I chose the Deuter Air Contact Pro 60 Liters which is expandable to 15 liters (75 liters).
It's really versatile, compact and mobile. The coating on the entire mesh back padding dissipates heat and moisture (so as not to end up with a fountain in the back).
It has many pockets that allow you to get business very quickly and above all it is rainproof for its "rain cover".
The bag is about 3 pounds and can go in the cabin if you do not fill more than 50 liters.
CLOTHING MERINO WOOL: BEST FRIENDS TRAVELLER!
I prefer to take the business very good qualities even if they are a bit more expensive. That's why I prefer materials that have a longer shelf life and especially during a trip that will not shatter after washing.
After much research on the internet I discovered that clothes made of merino wool are the best friends of the traveler!
The benefits of Merino wool garments:
breathable and absorbent little they dry very quickly,
clothing Merino wool wick moisture away and hardly feel (no smell of sweat, shirt Merino wool can be used for several days without needing to be washed!)
T-shirts wool Merinos are really lightweight, comfortable to wear, antistatic, natural and biodegradable
This wool has anti-microbial properties
cons:
the high price, a pair of socks costing on average 20 euros a boxer costing 40 euros
Tips:
So yes, merino wool is perhaps a little more sweat than traditional clothing, but its anti-bacterial properties help avoid any unpleasant odors and therefore allow to wear clothing or underwear several days away without needing to be washed.
